Pirates Ahoy! Lets make a treasure map!

BBis pirate obsessed. OBSESSED!. His hero is actually Captain Hook, and according to Noah, Peter Pan is naughty because he goes onto Captain Hooks ship without asking.

We wear our Pirate outfit everyday and if it gets filthy, I have to wash and dry it overnight so it is not missed. Thank goodness his Godmother brought him pirate PJ’s or else I think he would sleep in his outfit if he could.

We have to make pirate ships, have sword fights, and find treasure all the time. Last week BBsuddenly realised that the flaw in the plan of his treasure hunting was no map.

‘Aha me matey,’ I say. ‘Shall we make one?’

So we did.

I drew a map island shape onto a piece of paper.

I added on that it’s was Noah’s map and we practiced spelling his name.

I got him to add to some colour to his map, and he decided to draw an X to mark the spot.

I found some Pirate stickers in a book of stickers he got for Christmas, and we added the treasure, a compass, a skull and some pirates!

We then decided to make it look old.

Firstly I burned the edges of the paper (and used this as an opportunity to explain to BBthe dangers of fire and burning and that this is an Adult ONLY part!) and then we paint the paper with a teabag to stain it.

Leave it to dry and roll it up and ties with a ribbon (or treasure band as BBcalled it).

Dress as a pirate and all is complete!

Having multiple toddlers is tough! I know I have to keep up with them everyday so I’ve always tried to make my health a top priority. It’s hard to find time to workout as a mom, but if you start the habits while you’re still pregnant, they will carry over into your schedule after your little one is born. You might be too tired in the 1st trimester, but you’ll want to start pregnant work out plan and make plans to transition into a best postpartum exercise plan after you’ve recovered from delivering. A lot of people don’t realize that it doesn’t take much time to workout and stay healthy while pregnant with a 2nd trimester pregnancy workout. Besides, it gives you an excuse to go shopping for post pregnancy activewear pants!

This is great! I still do treasure hunts in the house with my older kids, we use clues on cards – they start with one card – when they know the answer to the clue they will find the next card and so on until they find the treasure. Kids never grow out of treasure hunts!
